Book One of the Willow Brown Stories.

For thirty years, Willow Brown has lived in the woods on her deceased parent’s estate, where she follows a reclusive lifestyle caring for the wildlife and avoiding human contact. Then Willow’s quiet world turns upside down when nature photographer Noah Phelps crosses her path and discovers she can fly...

Noah quickly learns there is more to fairies than just flying. Gifted with magical powers far beyond his Wiccan charms, Willow is also a woman with issues and a haunting past. When local bully Chester Jones reignites a long-standing feud, Willow turns to her “mere human” friend for help and finds love as well.

Willow is the most delightful, mysterious, feisty, irritating, yet lovable woman Noah has ever known. At his urging, she seeks the answer to the mystery of her parents’ death and Jones’s sudden interest in her woodland home. Fairy magic, Wiccan spells, and the Jones brand of folk magic crisscross the ether, as a race ensues to find the clues hidden in the woods.

After Willow casts her spell, you will believe in fairies.

An Ordinary Fairy Book One of the Willow Brown Stories eBook John Osborne

John Osborne is telling us the enchanted tale of Willow and Noah's "connection." He describes the life of his fairy in the woods in such a manner that some of us would be happy to try it: A life in harmony with nature and with a wonderful connection to the animals in the woods - I would love it! Who wouldn't be drawn to the quietness and simpleness of a conscious existence that is also part of a spiritual world that humans have traded in for deadlines and material "stuff." Of course, there are always dark forces we have to deal with. They can be within ourselves or in others; but courage, love and loyalty can overcome - and heal - and give hope.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I'm hoping for more!

An Ordinary Fairy Book One of the Willow Brown Stories eBook John Osborne Reviews

I wasn't really able to get into this one and I think it's mostly the characters - I normally like stories about fairies and other supernatural things but Noah seems almost a little too perfect and so does Willow. Plus, they fall in love WAY too fast and then once they do they start speaking in 3rd person ("As long as the little fairy blah blah blah") and kind of sickly-sweet stuff - I don't know, but it wasn't for me. I was too distracted by that stuff to even care about the plot.
The mystery/other world aspects of the book are fine yet let me be clear if you do not like anything that discusses paints graphic pictures of or even hints at child molestation and rape do not read this book ( sorry for the spoiler but i wish someone had warned me before i read it and to think i almost allowed my daughter to read it first because she loves fairies (
I loved this story. .a wonderful romantic story and beautifully written. It's not easy for a Wiccan and a fairy to fall in love especially when surrounded by magic and intrigue. After reading this book I went out and bought the second book in this magical series. If you have any magic in your life you'll really enjoy these stories and if you don't maybe these books will help you to find it.
John Osborne strings words together very well which should make him a good writer. However, this book is missing one key element for a book -- a plot. One can't just go on for hundreds of pages about a photographer falling in love with a fairy. I was 31% through the book before the protagonist put in an appearance although he was mentioned earlier. It was a lot later than that before Willow and Noah started searching for a secret cave. This might have made a better novella, but it needed some strong editing. Like a fairy, the plot is elusive.
I loved this story. It was the first book about Fairies that I found. It opened the door for me to many more. I have always loved anything to do with Fairies but didn't know there were stories about them. And WOW! Are there some great books out there. But I love this one best. It is so believable. And Noah being a Wiccan was a wonderful plus for me.
Loved it, loved it, loved it!
I love John Osborne's take on fairies. They are not frail, fragile flowers of fantasy. They feel more like real people who just happen live a really long time and have wings. Dragon Fairies have wings like dragonflies are are fast fliers, Butters have butterfly wings, Bumbles are bases on bees, and Moths come out at night.

Willow Brown has lived a really long time as a recluse. Then along came Noah. This book has mystery, romance, suspense and pretty much anything else you could ask for in a book. The dialogue is well written and each character has a distinct and recognizable voice.
I enjoyed getting to know the characters and watch Willow's relationship with the photographer develop. However, the whole secrecy issue with Willow's past is annoying. If her lover can accept that she is a fairy, she has a long life, she's practically a superwoman, etc., then I can't imagine what her big "secret" past is all about that would make a difference. It's was just a thorn in the story like it would be to her new "fairy-friend-with-benefits"! I may read the next book when I get bored and am looking for something else, but I just needed to step away from these characters awhile.
